'We' is the world of the 32nd century, where names are replaced by letters and numbers, people eat petroleum processing products, the state controls everything, including the intimate life of its citizens, and a person having a soul is grounds for a visit to a psychotherapist. Science fiction, you might say — you can make up anything. Yes, but for this 'anything', written by Yevgeny Zamyatin in 1920, the author was subjected to persecution, and the novel was not published in the USSR until 68 years later.
