George Grosz (born Georg Grosz) was a radical German graphic artist and caricaturist, founder of the Berlin Dadaist group, an implacable critic of the authorities, and one of the most ruthless artists exposing the vices of his time. The Nazis accused Grosz of insulting public morality and being unpatriotic, classified his work as degenerate art, and confiscated and destroyed many of his works from museums. However, this did not break the Dadaist. Until his last day, he ridiculed unprincipled politicians, absurd laws, and class contradictions, and remained an ardent supporter of pacifism.
'G. 'Gros' by Norwegian artist Lars Fiske is a magnificent graphic biography that resonates with the style of work and life of an underrated genius.
