Pavel Syutkin
Pavel Syutkin is a Russian writer, television and radio host, and historian of Russian cuisine. He graduated from MGIMO under the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs and holds a Candidate of Historical Sciences degree. In the 1990s and 2000s, he worked in the banking and investment sectors, as well as in public service. Since the early 2010s, he has been studying the history of Russian cuisine. He is the author of eight books on the history of cooking and gastronomy. In 2015, his book CCCP CookBook: True Stories of Soviet Cuisine was featured in The New York Times Book Review. Syutkin, together with coauthor O. A. Syutkina, has been awarded the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2014 in the category "Best Book on the History of Cuisine," the Food Show Awards 2018 in the category "For Promoting the History of Russian Gastronomy," and the Gourmand Best of the Best 25 (2020) in the category "Gastronomic Heritage." Since 2013, he has co-hosted several culinary programs on Mayak Radio. He is also a frequent guest on similar programs on Radio Rossii, Vesti FM, Radio Sputnik, and Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda. He is a permanent expert on the programs Living Food on NTV and Food with a History on TV Center. In 2018, he became the producer of the documentary series The History of Russian Food on the Kultura television channel. He served as Russia's ambassador at the EXPO-2015 World Expo in Milan.
