Cecelia Ahern (English: Cecelia Ahern, Irish: Cecelia Ní hEachthairn; born 30 September 1981, Dublin, Ireland) is a romance novelist, producer, and co-creator of the series “Samantha Who?”; her father is former Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern. She spent her entire childhood in the suburbs of Ireland’s capital, in the countryside, in a large house near a fishing village. She has a sister who is married to a singer from the band Westlife; they have twins.
Cecelia Ahern married fellow Irishman, actor David Keogan, on 9 June 2010. In December 2009, they had a daughter, Robin, and on 23 July 2012, a son, Sonny.
Before becoming a writer, Cecelia Ahern graduated from the faculty of journalism. At the age of 21, she wrote her first novel, “P.S. I Love You,” which was sold in more than 40 countries. In 2007, Warner Bros. and Wendy Finerman Productions adapted the work for the screen.
The book reached the top of the bestseller charts in the United States, England, Ireland, and Germany, where it remained for 52 weeks. In November 2004, her second book, “Where Rainbows End,” also reached the top of the charts in Ireland and the United Kingdom. The novel remained on the Irish bestsellers list for 12 weeks. Her third book, “If You Could See Me Now,” was published in November 2005 and also became an international bestseller.
In 2006, the fourth novel, “There’s No Place Like Here,” was published and also became No. 1 in Ireland and the United Kingdom. Cecelia has already received a large number of different awards. Among them are “Best Newcomer” (the British Book Awards, 2004/2005) for her first novel, “P.S. I Love You”; the “Irish Literary Award” (Irish Post Award, 2005); and in the same year, according to votes from German readers, she received the “Corine Award” for her second book, “Where Rainbows End.”
