Anna Desnitskaya
Anna Desnitskaya is a Moscow-based artist, illustrator, and collage artist. She graduated from the Moscow State University of Printing Arts.
Desnitskaya has illustrated several children’s books, including Osip Mandelstam’s Two Trams, Eduard Shenderovich’s Aliens Among the Egyptians, Vadim Frolov’s What Goes with What, and Boris Almazov’s Look — I’m Growing (all published by Samokat), as well as Metro Above and Below Ground (published by Peshkom v istoriyu). Anna has taken part in competitions for original toys and applied arts. She conducts workshops on making dolls and dollhouses for adults and children.
One of Anna Desnitskaya’s major and important projects is The History of an Old Apartment, created together with Alexandra Litvina. They presented the entire history of the 20th century through the eyes of children from a fictional communal apartment on Chistye Prudy.
In 2017, Anna Desnitskaya took part in the Bratislava Biennial of Illustration (Bienále ilustrácií Bratislava) and won the Golden Apple (GOLDEN APPLE BIB), one of the most important awards for illustrators from around the world.
On the eve of the 2019 Frankfurt Book Fair, The History of an Old Apartment was included in a highly selective and prestigious catalog of the 100 best contemporary illustrated books in the world, compiled by the DPICTUS association of publishers of high-quality illustrated books.
