Ante Tomić

Ante Tomić is a Croatian writer and journalist.

He was born in 1970 in the town of Proložac in Dalmatia. He graduated with honors from the University of Zadar, where he studied philosophy and sociology. He began his career as a reporter for the daily newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija. Even then, Tomić’s publications revealed the talent of a writer, which he was able to fully display in his debut novel What Is a Man Without Moustache (2000). Three years later, Tomić wrote the novel Nothing Can Surprise Us, in which he portrayed the lives of conscripts in the Yugoslav People's Army, which existed until 1992. Both works were adapted for the screen. Tomić also took part in writing the scripts for the film Last Will (Posljednja volja, 2001) and the miniseries New Age (Novo doba, 2002).

Tomić wrote for the newspaper Jutarnji list. In 2004, at the newspaper’s request, he traveled across the United States to cover the presidential campaign, in particular by interviewing American voters on the streets. In 2009, he began writing his own column for Slobodna Dalmacija.
