Antonio Iturbe
Antonio G. Iturbe is a Spanish journalist, writer, and professor. He is currently the director of the cultural magazine Librújula.
Iturbe was born in Zaragoza. Later, the family moved to Barcelona, where they lived in the Barceloneta district. Iturbe earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, which he graduated from in 1991. He combined his studies with several jobs: parking attendant, baker, and auditor.
His first journalistic job was on a local television show in Barcelona called Televisió de Ciutat Vella, where he worked as a reporter.
After graduating, he created the free magazine Gratix, which he headed, and after taking part in various short projects, in 1993 he became head of supplements at El Periódico. He later became editor of the film magazine Fantastic Magazine, and in 1996 he joined the emerging book magazine Que Leer, where he served as editor-in-chief, deputy director, and, since 2008, director. Throughout these years, Iturbe also took part in many media-related events.
In 2004, he published his first novel, Rectos torcidos.
For several years, Iturbe also worked as a doctoral student in the master’s program in cultural journalism at the University of Madrid and in the publishing master’s program at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He lectured as a visiting professor in the journalism departments of Blanquerna University, the Open University of Catalonia, and the Abat Oliba University. He was a member of the selection committee of Bibliotecas de Barcelona and was honorary president of the Association of Cultural Journalists of Catalonia. In Zaragoza, he was an expert member of the Asociación Miguel Fleta.
