'An Inconvenient Place' is a collaborative project between journalist Jonathan Littell and photographer Antoine d'Agata about Babi Yar, historical memory, and Russia's war crimes in Ukraine in the 2000s. The book's manuscript was completed two days before Russia's attack on Ukraine. In November 2022, Littell returned to the text to rewrite it in line with the new reality, which had already seen Bucha, the occupation of Mariupol, and the daily revelation of new crimes committed by Russian troops in Ukraine.
