'Ibicus' is a graphic adaptation of Alexei Nikolaevich Tolstoy's novella, published in 1924 under the title 'The Adventures of Nevzorov, or Ibicus.' It is the captivating story of the adventurer Semyon Ivanovich Nevzorov, who, by fate's will, finds himself caught up in the maelstrom of the Civil War: cards, alcohol, cunning trade operations, mysticism... And the skull of Ibicus becomes a fatal omen for the hero.
Pascal Rabaté is a French screenwriter, artist, film director, and one of the recognized masters of the ninth art. Rabaté began working on his adaptation of Tolstoy's novella in 1998. The graphic adaptation, which received rave reviews from critics and widespread public recognition, was awarded the most prestigious award in the world of European comics—the Alf-Art prize for best book at the 2000 Angoulême festival.
The second edition of Rabaté's 'Ibicus' in Russian is timed to coincide with the centenary of the publication of Alexei Tolstoy's story.
