The graphic novel 'Stigmata' is a modern-day De Profundis: the story of a troubled alcoholic who, unexpectedly and to his own surprise, develops stigmata—unhealing wounds on his hands, like those of saints. Written in an expressive, sometimes almost maddening graphic style, the novel is replete with biblical allusions and quotes from the life of Saint Therese of Lisieux. And all this to remind us of an ancient truth: even in the deepest darkness, there is a chance to reach the Light.
This book is the result of a collaboration between the excellent Italian screenwriter Claudio Piersanti and the outstanding Italian artist Lorenzo Mattotti, winner of the Grand Prix of the International Biennale of Illustration in Bratislava and the American Will Eisner Award in the field of comics.
