She lives in Moscow and is married. She is very fond of Russian and German classical literature, and tries to translate the latter purely for her own pleasure. The writer describes the genre of her works as follows:
“I write more supernatural fiction than horror, or perhaps I work in magical realism—in general, I try to work at the intersection of genres, because in any one genre it quickly becomes both cramped and boring. The intersection of genres is like the junction of tectonic plates in an unsettled era: there is constant movement, and one has to keep balance, and readers’ opinions also help decide where to make the next step.”
