Dzhordzh Kubler
George Kubler was an American art historian specializing in pre-Columbian America.
He was born in Hollywood, California. The son of art historians, he spent his childhood in Europe. He lost both parents at an early age and was raised in an orphanage in the United States. He attended Western Reserve Academy, a private coeducational boarding school in Hudson, Ohio. He graduated from Yale University and defended his dissertation there; under the supervision of Henri Focillon, he received a Master of Arts degree (1936) and a Doctor of Philosophy degree (1940). Professor at Yale (1964–1983). Professor at the National Gallery of Art (1985–1986).
