Ekaterina Zvontsova
Ekaterina Zvontsova is a Russian writer and editor working in a variety of genres, from retellings, fantasy, and magical realism to historical and alternative-historical prose. As early as ninth grade, Ekaterina decided that she would become an editor. In 2012, she graduated from the Moscow State University of Printing Arts named after I. Fyodorov (formerly MPI) and has since continued working with texts. As an editor, she works with the publishing houses Mann, Ivanov and Ferber, AST, Samokat, and Clever. She published her first works of fiction under the pseudonym El Rigby. Her debut novel Tomorrow They Will Bury Us became one of the winners of the Best Youth Bestseller 2015 competition. Since 2019, she has been publishing exclusively under her own name. Many of Ekaterina’s books are either inspired by historical events or deal with them directly. For example, Shore of the Dead Forget-Me-Nots is a dark fantasy inspired by events of the 12th century in the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem. It tells the story of the enmity-turned-friendship between the terminally ill young King Baldwin IV the Leper and the powerful, formidable Sultan Saladin in the 1180s. The novel Silver Oath is a fantasy retelling of the events of the Time of Troubles.
