Evgeniya Demenok
Evgeny Leonidovich Demenok was born in 1969 in Odessa and lives in Prague. He is a writer, journalist, and art historian, specializing primarily in the Russian and Ukrainian avant-garde. He was one of the founders of the literary studio “Green Lamp” at the World Club of Odessans. He is the author of numerous publications in journals, newspapers, and literary anthologies in Ukraine, Russia, the Czech Republic, the United States, Canada, Greece, Cyprus, and Israel. He has authored five books, including New about the Burlyuks (2013), The Case of Benya Krik (2015, reissued in 2018), and All of Odessa Is Very Large (2016). He was awarded the Odesa Municipal Paustovsky Prize for New about the Burlyuks (2014), the Deti Ra magazine prize for the essay “David Burliuk’s American Addresses” (2016), and the International Mark named after David Burliuk, father of Russian Futurism (2018). He is a member of the Presidential Council of the World Club of Odessans. At Evgeny’s initiative and expense, memorial plaques to Yuri Olesha, Kiriak Kostandi, Mikhail Vrubel, David Burliuk, and Aleksei Kruchenykh were installed in Odessa. Source
