Genassiya Zhan-Mishel
Jean-Michel Guenassia was born in 1950 in Algiers. He worked as a lawyer for about six years, and in the 1980s and 1990s he worked as a screenwriter, writing scripts for television series. His first literary attempt (not counting a detective story published on a one-time basis), The Club of the Incorrigible Optimists, was immediately noticed by readers after its publication in 2009, receiving the Goncourt Prize that same year. The following year, the book was also awarded the readers’ prize Our Time.
Today the author writes for television and theater.
