Gideon Samson
Gideon Samson is a Dutch children’s writer.
Gideon Samson was born in 1985 in The Hague, Netherlands. As a child, he dreamed of becoming a football player, but eventually became a writer, like his mother. Before that, however, he had to try a number of professions, from courier and salesman to driver and coach. His first book, Don’t Say Anything! (Niks zeggen!), published in 2008, addressed the issue of bullying and received a Vlag en Wimpel (a special mention from the jury of the Dutch children’s literature award).
His subsequent works, Heaven Can Wait (De hemel kan wachten) and Black Swan (Zwarte Zwaan), were honored with the prestigious Silver Slate Pencil award in 2010 and 2013, respectively, and Zebra (Zeb.) also received the Golden Slate Pencil.
In addition to literature, he is also interested in cinema, which he studied for several years. In his spare time, he enjoys playing football, watching films, and, of course, reading books.
