Irina Bogatyreva
Irina Sergeyevna Bogatyryova is a Russian prose writer, storyteller, editor, and musician. She is a member of the Moscow Union of Writers and the international writers’ organization PEN Moscow. Her work has been published in the magazines Oktyabr, Novy Mir, Druzhba Narodov, Koltso A, and Den i Noch. Her stories and novellas have been translated into English, Chinese, and Dutch.
Irina Bogatyryova grew up in Ulyanovsk. She has been engaged in literature since early childhood, and began writing fiction at the age of 15. She graduated from the Gorky Literary Institute. She was editor-in-chief of the magazine for young writers of the Volga region, Berega. She is the author of the literary adaptation of the collection of Altai folk tales The Red Dog. In 2011, the novella Comrade Anna was published by Astrel. The publishing house Eksmo released the novel AutoSTOP. Bogatyryova’s best-known books are Life with the Unclean and Kadyn.
She is interested in ethnic music and plays the jaw harp in the duo Olkhonskiye Vorota. She lives in Lyubertsy, Moscow Oblast.
