Kristin Hannah is an American writer in the romance genre. She is the author of bestselling novels and a recipient of numerous awards, including the Golden Heart and the Maggie, and in 1996 she was the winner of the National Readers' Choice Award.

When I was 8 years old, my wild, wonderful, adventure-loving father uprooted the family from our settled life, packed all of us into a minibus, and we set off into the unknown. Mother, father, three children (I was the eldest), and a dog. We were told to choose the most beautiful place on Earth.
