Hanya Yanagihara

Hanya Yanagihara is an American writer of Hawaiian descent and author of travel essays. Her first novel, The People in the Trees, based on the true story of the physician and virologist Daniel Carleton Gajdusek, was recognized as one of the best novels of 2013. In 2015, her second novel, A Little Life, was published and also received enthusiastic reviews. On September 15, 2015, it was shortlisted for the Booker Prize. Yanagihara was also a columnist for Condé Nast Traveler. She is currently deputy editor of T: The New York Times Style Magazine.
