Matt Haig is a British novelist.

He was born in 1975 in Sheffield. The future writer spent his childhood in Newark, Nottinghamshire. Haig was educated at the Universities of Hull and Leeds. He currently lives in York.

During his life, Matt has changed several professions. He ran his own internet marketing company, worked in a nightclub in Spain, and then became a professional writer. Haig has collaborated and continues to work with publications such as The Guardian, The Sunday Times, The Independent, The Sydney Morning Herald, and Faze.

Haig’s first book was published in 2005. Earlier, the writer’s work was closely linked to Shakespeare’s classical works. For example, his debut novel, The Last Family in England, reimagines the events of the first act of Henry IV, except that all the characters in the story are dogs. The book became a bestseller in the United Kingdom, and the film rights were sold to Brad Pitt’s Plan B studio.

Haig’s second novel, Dead Fathers Club, is based on the plot of Hamlet. At the center of the narrative is the story of an eleven-year-old boy who must cope with his father’s recent death and the subsequent appearance of his ghost. However, the author himself jokes that these books are only 3 percent Shakespeare retellings, and the remaining 97 percent Matt borrowed from Return of the Jedi.

Matt Haig also wrote the children’s book series Samuel Blink. The first novel in the series, Samuel Blink and the Forbidden Forest (also published as Shadow Forest), tells the story of a little boy, Samuel Blink, who must venture into the depths of the world’s deadliest forest in order to save his sister’s life. The story features one-eyed trolls, malicious pixies, witches, and people who turn into rabbits. The book won numerous British literary awards and was even nominated for the Carnegie Medal.

In 2009, the sequel, Samuel Blink and the Runaway Troll
