Hilary Leichter

Hilary Leichter is an American writer.

Leichter’s work has been published in The New Yorker, Harper's, The New York Times, Conjunctions, and Selected Shorts, and her writing has been recognized with distinguished mention in Best American Short Stories. Her work in Harper's Magazine received the 2021 National Magazine Award for Fiction.

She has been awarded fellowships from Yaddo, the Folger Shakespeare Library, and the New York Foundation for the Arts, and in the summer of 2022 she was a Picador Visiting Professor of Literature at Leipzig University.

Leichter teaches at Columbia University, where she is a fiction advisor to students. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
