Chris Priestley
Chris Priestley is an English writer and illustrator. His works belong chiefly to the detective, fantasy, and horror genres. Many of his works are intended for a teenage audience.
As a child, he lived in Gibraltar. He was interested in American comics and also successfully tried his hand at this type of drawing. He received higher education at Manchester Polytechnic (1976–1980). From 1981 to 1985, he worked as a cartoonist for such British newspapers as The Times and The Independent, as well as for the magazine Record Mirror. From 1990 to 1996, he collaborated with The Economist, and then for two years with The Independent again. Beginning in 2000, he devoted himself to writing. Since his youth, Chris Priestley has had an interest in various horror stories, which had a decisive influence on the author’s later work. In addition to his literary activity, Priestley continues to draw extensively.
Chris Priestley’s works have been translated from English into German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Czech, Japanese, Turkish, Thai, Dutch, Swedish, and other languages.
Chris Priestley lives with his family in Cambridge, United Kingdom.
