Lu Erlend
Erlend Loe is a famous Norwegian writer, literary critic, and laureate of a number of national and international prizes, and in the past a short film director, stage actor, schoolteacher, and employee of a psychiatric hospital.
After completing alternative civilian service in a theater, Erlend Loe studied literature, film studies, and ethnology in Oslo. Later he also attended the Danish Film School (Dan. Danmarks Film Akademi) in Copenhagen and the Academy of Art in Trondheim. Today he lives in Oslo as a writer, screenwriter, and translator. Erlend Loe’s debut novel, which brought him fame, was Vo vlaste zhenshchiny (“Woman in Charge”), in which Loe described the unrequited love of a young Norwegian man.
Loe’s authorial style is recognizable and is often characterized as deliberately naive. The main characters of his novels usually want too much from everyday life. Erlend Loe often uses irony, grotesque exaggeration, and humor. Erlend Loe’s famous book Naive. Super has already been translated into more than 20 languages.
