Martin Gayford

Martin Gayford

Martin Gayford is an art historian and art critic. He studied philosophy at the University of Cambridge and art history at the Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London. Over three decades, he has written extensively about art and music in a series of major biographies, and has also regularly published articles for newspapers, magazines, and exhibition catalogues. Alongside his career as an art historian, he was a critic for The Spectator and The Sunday Telegraph, and later became chief art critic for the international television network Bloomberg News. He is married, has two children, and lives in Cambridge, England.
