Myushemble Rober
Writer Robert Muchembled was born in the city of Liévin, in northern France, on March 4, 1944. From childhood, he was interested in history, and by 1985 he had already earned the title of professor and a PhD for a dissertation entitled “Violence and Society.”
His research covers the period between 1400 and 1789 and is devoted mainly to issues related to witchcraft in the Middle Ages. Why was the devil so active precisely at that time? Why was the witch hunt so relevant then? What is the role and history of the development of the sexual culture of Western society? Muchembled sought to answer these and other questions in his works.
His books have been translated into many languages, including English, German, Italian, Russian, Dutch, Japanese, Spanish, Czech, Polish, Swedish, Greek, and Chinese.
