Neale Donald Walsch is an American writer and the author of the best-selling books Conversations with God, Friendship with God, Communion with God, and other works devoted to the spiritual development of the human being.
Having received a journalistic education, Walsch worked for many years as a reporter for various American newspapers, spent some time as a radio talk-show host, and was involved in advertising. However, his work brought him neither moral nor material satisfaction. The culmination of Walsch’s failures was life on the streets: for a whole year he was forced to sleep in a park. In addition, he developed numerous health problems. Then, one day, driven to despair, the journalist decided to write to God, setting out his complaints about life. To Walsch’s surprise, as soon as he finished writing, his pencil began to move by itself, and an answer to his question appeared on the paper. This event, which took place in the spring of 1992, became a turning point in Neale Donald Walsch’s life. He began to receive answers to every question he asked, and these answers helped him regain faith in himself and find wholeness and joy in life. Three years later, Walsch published his notes under the title Conversations with God: An Uncommon Dialogue. Some time later, the second and third books with the same title were published. In the United States, this edition was a stunning success: it remained on the New York Times bestseller list for 130 weeks. After Conversations with God, the books Friendship with God and Communion with God were published, and they enjoyed no less success with readers.
Today, N. D. Walsch is the author of 15 books devoted to the spiritual evolution of humankind. He lives with his wife Nancy in one of the scenic areas of southern Oregon. Together they created “ReCreation,” a public organization whose goal is to help people return to themselves and follow the path of inner growth (at the end of 2001, this organization was renamed the “Conversation with God Foundation”).
