Olga Gromova

Olga Gromova is a librarian, editor, and writer.

In the past, she was the editor-in-chief of the professional newspaper Library at School published by the First of September publishing house; by training she is a librarian-bibliographer. She has 25 years of experience working in libraries of various types, including 5 years in a research library and 13 years in school libraries. For more than 10 years she studied and generalized the experience of school and children's libraries in Russia and the CIS, as well as adapted foreign experience to Russian conditions through contacts with IASL, at international forums, and through visits to school libraries and resource centers in Sweden, Denmark, the United States, and many other countries. She teaches at MIIOO (formerly MIPKRO) in professional development courses for school librarians.

Gromova O.K. is one of the authors of the concept and the organizer of the in-person Library School of First of September, where, alongside invited lecturers, she herself led interactive classes on library science issues. She is an editor and co-author of the collection Seven Steps to a New Library. She is an expert on school libraries for the National Training Foundation.

She is a member of the International Association of School Librarianship and represents Russia at the annual International Library and Information Congress. She is a member of the standing committee of the School Libraries Section of the Russian Library Association. She is an expert on school libraries for the National Training Foundation. She was a member of the jury for the National Children's Literary Prize Coveted Dream for the 2006–2007 season. At present, Olga Konstantinovna gladly and lovingly edits children's and young adult literature at the KompasGid publishing house.

As a writer, Olga Konstantinovna became known in 2014 after the publication of the teenage novel Sugar Child: The Story of a Girl from the Last Century, Told by Stella Nudolskaya. This is a documentary-fiction book written for children about the difficult years of the 1930s and 1940s, when even small children could become victims of Stalinist repressions, and the Great Patriotic War spared no one, even in the rear.
