Patrik de Vitt
Patrick deWitt is a Canadian novelist and screenwriter. He was born on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and later lived in California and Washington. He currently lives in Portland, Oregon. His first book, Ablutions (2009), was named one of the New York Times editors’ picks. His second book, The Sisters Brothers (2011), was shortlisted for the 2011 Booker Prize, the 2011 Scotiabank Giller Prize, and the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize, and in 2011 won the Governor General's Literary Award for English-language fiction. Along with fellow Canadian writer Esi Edugyan, he was included on all four prize shortlists in 2011. On November 1, 2011, he was named the winner of the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize; on November 15, 2011, he was named the winner of the 2011 Governor General's Literary Award for English-language fiction. On April 26, 2012, The Sisters Brothers received the 2012 Stephen Leacock Award. Together with Edugyan’s work, The Sisters Brothers was also shortlisted for the 2012 Walter Scott Prize for historical fiction.
