Polina Aronson

Polina Aronson
Polina Aronson was born in St. Petersburg. In 2003, she graduated from the Faculty of Sociology at St. Petersburg State University with a degree in Social Anthropology, then continued her studies in the postgraduate program at the same faculty and in 2007 defended her candidate’s dissertation. From 2007 to 2012, she studied in the PhD program at the University of Warwick (United Kingdom) and received a PhD in sociology. She also undertook an internship at the University of Freiburg (Germany), worked at the Institute of Health Sociology at Berlin’s Charité clinic, and in 2014 became an Einstein Forum fellow in Potsdam. However, Polina became a journalist before she became a sociologist: her journalistic education began back in her school years in the newsroom of the St. Petersburg newspaper Pyat Uglov, which in Soviet times was called Leninskie Iskry. She collaborates with a number of Russian and international publications, including Colta, AEON, The Guardian, and Neue Zürcher Zeitung. At the time of the publication of Love: DIY, she was an editor for the openDemocracy and dekoder portals. Source
