Richard Osman
Richard Thomas Osman is an English television presenter, producer, comedian, and writer, best known as the creator and co-host of the game show Pointless, broadcast on BBC One. Richard Osman studied politics and sociology at Trinity College, Cambridge. He began his television career producing numerous shows, including Deal or No Deal. Osman also worked as a screenwriter on several television programs, including the 2016 A Pointless History of the World.
In 2020, Richard Osman’s debut novel, The Thursday Murder Club, was published. It is a humorous detective story about a group of pensioners investigating crimes in a sleepy retirement village. The book not only became the best-selling adult crime fiction debut in history, but also received high critical acclaim. According to Richard Osman, the idea for The Thursday Murder Club came to him after a visit to an upscale care home. He was captivated by the atmosphere of the place and by the notion that pensioners could make ideal detectives, since they are often overlooked and underestimated.
