Shelli Rid

Shelley Read is an American writer and journalist.

Shelley is a fifth-generation Colorado native. She lives with her family in the Elk Mountains.

Read was a senior lecturer at Western Colorado University for nearly three decades, where she taught creative writing and literature, and also founded the Environmental and Sustainability Studies major.

Shelley holds degrees in writing and literary studies from the University of Denver and a graduate degree in creative writing from Temple University. She regularly writes for Crested Butte Magazine, Gunnison Valley Journal, the Denver Post, and other publications.

Shelley Read's debut novel, Go as a River, was published in the United States in the spring of 2023 and immediately earned the acclaim and admiration of critics and readers.
