Tesson Silven
Sylvain Tesson was born on 24 April 1972 in Paris. His mother is Marie-Claude, and his father, Philippe Tesson (French: Philippe Tesson), was a well-known French journalist; his sisters are Stéphanie Tesson (French: Stéphanie Tesson), an actress, and Daphné Tesson (French: Daphné Tesson), an art journalist. Sylvain Tesson himself is trained as a geography teacher. While still a student, in 1991 he went on his first journey to Iceland. In 1993, together with Alexandre Poussin (French: Alexandre Poussin), Sylvain made a cycling trip around the world. This journey marked the beginning of a new life for Sylvain Tesson as an adventurer-traveler. He crossed the steppes of Central Asia on horseback, from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan. Throughout the trip he was accompanied by Priscilla Telmon (French: Priscilla Telmon), who was his travel companion for several years. In 2004 he made a walking journey from Siberia to India, following the route described in Gulag escapee Slavomir Rawicz’s book The Long Walk. For his travels he usually chooses countries of the former USSR. Sylvain pays for all his trips himself. He never uses special modern technical equipment while traveling and moves completely autonomously. He receives money for his journeys from fees for documentaries about his expeditions, from lectures he gives, and from sales of his books recounting the expeditions. When Sylvain is not traveling, he devotes himself to literature. In addition to travel notes, Sylvain Tesson writes poetry and humorous short stories. As a rule, the action of all his works takes place in the countries through which his travel routes passed: Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, India, etc. He also writes literary reviews and maintains a monthly column in the Paris magazine Grands Reportages. Since 2004, together with photographer Thomas Goisque (French: Thomas Goisque) and artist Bertrand de Miollis (French: Bertrand de Miollis), Sylvain has been preparing special reports about his expeditions for the French Le Figaro Magazine (French: Le Figaro Magazine). For the TV channel FR5, he has written several scripts for documentaries. In addition, Sylvain Tesson travels extensively around the world and gives lectures in which he talks about
