Toon Tellegen
Toon Tellegen is a Dutch writer and poet known for his paradoxical fairy tales for children and adults. His real name is Antonius Otto Hermannus. His grandfather bore the surname Telegin and was originally from Russia. Toon Tellegen received a higher medical education. From 1970 to 1973, he worked as a doctor in Kenya, then settled in Amsterdam. Until 1997, he combined medical practice with his creative work.
In Russia, he is sometimes called “the Amsterdam Kharms.” The author is characterized by paradoxical plots, disproportion in the size of his characters, and absurdism.
