Valentina Byalik
VALENTINA MOISEEVNA BYALIK is an artist, art historian, and museum educator.
In 1961, she graduated from the Faculty of Art and Graphics of the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute named after V.I. Lenin (now Moscow State Pedagogical University) and, in 1966, from its postgraduate program in the Department of Art History. Since 1963, she has worked at the State Tretyakov Gallery.
She is the author of about 100 publications, including articles in scholarly collections and almanacs, catalogs and albums, specialized and popular journals, and papers and reports presented at international and all-Russian conferences and seminars. Her main areas of research are Russian art of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Soviet art, and museum education. She studies the epistolary legacy of Russian artists. She devotes considerable attention to the relationship between fashion and the visual arts, and has developed a series of lecture and tour programs on this topic for the Tretyakov Gallery lecture hall and exhibitions. She is a senior researcher at the State Tretyakov Gallery.
