Vera Polozkova

Vera Nikolaevna Polozkova — Russian poet and actress. Vera Polozkova has been writing poetry since the age of 9, and published her first book at 15. In 2003–2004, she worked for FBI-Press and wrote for the magazines Iskra-Spark and Shik-Magazine. Three months before graduation, she left the Faculty of Journalism at Moscow State University, where she specialized in “Artistic Culture and Literary Criticism.” She wrote for Cosmopolitan and Afisha. Until December 2007, she worked at the Moscow Museum of Contemporary Art ART4.RU. In 2008, she played a role in Georg Geno’s production Society of Anonymous Artists (the Joseph Beuys Theater in collaboration with Teatr.doc). In November 2008, Polozkova traveled to India for the first time. The trip resulted in an extensive body of texts under the collective title Indian Cycle. After each journey to India, this cycle was supplemented with new poems. Since then, the study of changes in her relationship with God and the evolution of her spiritual experience has occupied an important place in Polozkova’s work. India became a kind of “place of power” for her. In July 2011, the well-known producer and promoter Alexander Cheparukhin invited Vera to become his co-host at the major international music festival Movement, held near the village of Khokhlovka near Perm. On June 8, 2011, her debut demo album, Sign of Inequality, was released, and within the first week of online sales it took first place in the number of downloads on the muz.ru website. The album was not released on physical media, since it had originally been presented as a “trial effort.” The project producer and author of the musical concept was Lena Gracheva. The music was composed by Sergey Geokchaev. Later, Gracheva assembled a musical group, and the authorship of the music became collective.
