Viktoriya Shvab
Victoria Schwab is an American writer whose work tends toward dark fantasy and antiheroes.
She was born on July 7, 1987. Victoria Schwab does not share much about her personal life. It is known that she is the daughter of a Beverly Hills guy and a British woman. She received a Southern upbringing, and therefore speaks with an accent. In her free time, the writer bakes chocolate chip cookies, watches various BBC television shows, and records her innermost thoughts in a personal diary.
Victoria’s most recent novel, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, is a Faustian tale of a deal for immortality with a woman in the lead role. For the author, it was important to take a fresh look at the story of an invincible hero who lives for centuries: Addie LaRue does not strive for greatness or power, but only accumulates experience and emotions, trying to express them through art. The novel was released in October 2020 and was highly praised by readers and critics. It remained on the New York Times bestseller list until July 2021.
Victoria Schwab’s debut novel was published in 2011 under the title The Near Witch. It was a dark fairy tale that was not expected to become a major success: a sequel was not commissioned, and the novella connected to the novel was not published until 2019, by which time Schwab’s name was already of interest to many readers.
In 2013, the novel from a new series, Archive, was published and still has many fans. The trilogy paid off and gained popularity, but at the time it also was not brought to completion in publication. Real success awaited Victoria later and moved steadily upward: Vicious later in 2013, A Darker Shade of Magic in 2015, which launched the now-famous Shades of Magic series, and This Savage Song, which debuted at number one on the New York Times bestseller list in 2016.
Schwab primarily works in the genres of fantasy, magical realism, and young adult fiction. Her works are highly valued by readers of different ages, building a true fan base in many countries.
