Violaine Bérot
Violaine Bérot is a French writer, born on 16 June 1967 in Bagnères-de-Bigorre, Hautes-Pyrénées, France, the daughter of Marcellin Bérot, a Pyrenean mountain dweller and author of several works on the Pyrenees, and Marie-Claude Bérot, a childcare worker and author of children's books.
In 1987, she graduated from the University of Toulouse, where she studied philosophy. She then continued her education, this time in computer science, and in 1991 earned a diploma as a computer programmer. She then worked for several years in her field, in information technology. All this changed when Bérot turned thirty. She said goodbye to city life and returned to her native region, in the heart of the Pyrenees (Ariège department), to raise goats and horses.
Violaine's debut novel was published in 1994.
In 2023, she will work at the Couserans secondary school in Saint-Girons as part of the “Writer in Residence” project at the school.
