Jean-Claude Mourlevat

Jean-Claude Mourlevat
Jean-Claude Mourlevat was born in 1952 in the French province of Auvergne. He has three brothers and two sisters, and his parents are farmers. After receiving a teaching degree, he worked for a long time as a German teacher at a secondary school, but in 1986 he decided to leave teaching in order to create and perform one-man shows for children. His play Tell Me About Love successfully ran for more than five hundred (!) performances in France and abroad. In 1997, his first book, Histoire de l'enfant et de l'oeuf (The Story of the Child and the Egg), was published by Mango. From that moment on, children’s and young adult literature became his field. In recent years, Jean-Claude Mourlevat’s books—his bibliography includes more than 20 titles—have been actively translated into various languages, revealing to readers abroad, including in Russia, the captivating magic and philosophical depth of a true fairy tale.
