Zulya Stadnik

Zulya Stadnik (real name Stadnik Zulfiya Venerovna) is a Russian writer and author of works for children and teenagers.

The future writer was born on September 7, 1984, in Sterlitamak. In 1988, her family moved to Tobolsk.

After graduating from school, Zulya enrolled in the philology department of the Tobolsk State Pedagogical Institute named after D. I. Mendeleev. In 2006, she graduated with a degree in Russian language and literature teaching. Even in childhood, Zulya tried her hand at writing, but did not take it seriously. She was always very active and energetic, and was interested in sports and theater. She was a member of the city snowboarding team, acted in a youth theater, and led theater and decorative studios for children.

After the birth of her daughter, Zulya Stadnik temporarily stopped her hobbies and fully focused on creative work.

In 2017, Stadnik won the international Korneychukov Prize competition (category “Prose for Middle and Senior School Age by Foreign Authors”) and received a special diploma of the Gaidar competition, and in 2018 she won the New Fairy Tale competition. In 2020, she became a finalist of the All-Russian literary prize “In the Beginning Was the Word” in the category “Children’s Literature” (“Bugs for First Graders”). She took part twice in the festival for young children’s authors “How Good It Is to Be Able to Write!” (2017, 2018).

The author began writing “Kindergarten on Wheels” for her daughter Solka when she had just started kindergarten. “I really wanted to create for her the image of a kindergarten as a pleasant place where it is good and fun. So that she would go there happily, learn to make friends, obey the teachers, and be ready to part with me for a while.”
