Annie Ernaux
Annie Ernaux (née Annie Thérèse Blanche Duchesne) is a French writer.
She is the recipient of the 2022 Nobel Prize in Literature “for the courage and clinical acuity with which she uncovers the roots, alienations and collective restraints of personal memory.”
All of Ernaux’s novels, in one way or another, reflect episodes from her biography: childhood, social advancement, marriage and motherhood, the discovery of her own sexuality, abortion, breast cancer, her mother’s illness and death.
Since 2014, Ernaux has been an honorary doctor of Cergy-Pontoise University.
