Andrei Sakharov: A Man Without Fear (Andrey Sakharov)

Who is our hero today? What is his superpower? As a child, Andrei was shy—he couldn't even talk to his deskmate. But many years later, it was his quiet voice that sounded louder than the explosions of the most destructive bombs, the opinions of the most important politicians. Andrei Sakharov, like all of us, had to choose: to think for himself or take someone's word for it, to speak or remain silent, to intervene or stand aside. His life was like a scientific experiment, which often led to unexpected results. Making mistakes, facing failures and betrayal, Sakharov always chose action: he questioned what was considered indisputable, spoke on an equal footing with heads of state, challenged lawlessness, injustice and authority. A brilliant physicist, the 'father' of the Soviet hydrogen bomb and human rights activist, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Sakharov was a man who was not afraid to think, speak out, and defend.
