In her frank and rich prose, Gloria reminds us that living with an open, observant, and “traveling” mind can impact how we learn, what we do, and how we understand each other.
This book is a moving, funny, and profound story of Gloria’s growth, and the growth of a revolutionary movement for equality. From her first experiences with women’s activism in India to her work as a journalist in the 1960s; from the whirlwind of political campaigns to the founding of a magazine; from the historic 1977 National Women’s Conference to her travels across the country of India. A life on the road allowed Gloria to listen to people and connect deeply with them, and to be part of a movement that would change the world.

QUOTES:
• 'The shortest way to change a society is to give the weakest a chance to speak as much as they will be listened to, and the strongest a chance to listen as much as they will speak.'
• 'Perhaps the true revolution will come when a woman can go on a journey of her own free will and desire, and, returning home, find a warm welcome.'
• 'If you are drawn somewhere, even against all logic, go. It means the Universe is trying to tell you something.'
• 'The most reliable indicator of the level of violence in a country - or its capacity to use violence against other countries - is not poverty, not natural resources, not religion, not even the level of democracy; it is the level of violence against women. It is this that is the measure of all other forms of violence.”
• “When people are divided into categories and classes instead of being united, everyone loses.”
