He is the man who forever changed humanity's understanding of nature, life on Earth, and itself. Yet the name of this brilliant researcher, visionary, and scientific revolutionary continues to haunt minds, inspire anger and hatred, and even now, almost a century and a half after his death, there are still those who like to kick a dead lion. The theory Darwin created has been subjected to various interpretations and distortions since his death, sometimes perverse and dangerous. His evolutionary teachings have been exploited by adherents of the most opposing political movements and ideologies, completely unrelated to the problems of theoretical biology.
