'Central Asia in the Middle Ages' is an unfinished novel by the artist, novelist, poet, art historian, and filmmaker Pavel Yakovlevich Zaltsman (1912–1985). He conceived and wrote it under the influence of his trips to Central Asia for location filming in the 1930s.
This edition publishes for the first time the first part and a plan for the second part of the novel, accompanied by an appendix by Elena Zaltsman and commentary and an afterword by Tatyana Baskakova, as well as 'Central Asian Tales' and 'Central Asian Diary of 1934.'
