Our classics, Yan Barshchevsky, Frantisek Bogushevich, Yanka Kupala, Maxim Bogdanovich, and Vladimir Dubovka, considered it an honor to adapt the finest examples of oral folklore or use them as the basis for their masterpieces. In the incredibly rich and varied legendary and magical Belarusian fairy tales, legends, and traditions, one can trace characters, images, and plot twists, discover adventures, and encounter transformations that would be the envy of horror film scriptwriters and the developers of the latest computer games. This volume includes not only prose works but also the most popular folk songs.
