'Two Pilgrims' is a historical religious novel by the current Patriarch of Constantinople, Sahak Mashalyan, published in Armenia in 2017. It tells the story of the lives of two Armenian Church figures: Hovhannes Bagishetsi (Kolot; 1678–1741) and Grigor Shkhtayakir (the Chain-Bearer; 1670–1749), before they became Patriarchs of Constantinople and Jerusalem, respectively.
Kolot and Shkhtayakir made an enormous contribution to Armenian culture: they founded the first cathedral choir, saved ancient Armenian manuscripts, built monasteries, and helped people. Full of poetic metaphors and a deep mystical feeling, this novel will be of interest not only to those interested in the history of the Armenian Church, but also to anyone seeking a true miracle.
