A fearless, piercing portrait of Russia and a crucial manifesto for journalism confronting the global authoritarian turn.

To be a journalist is to tell the truth. I Love Russia is Elena Kostyuchenko's tireless attempt to document her country through the eyes of those it systematically and brutally erases: village girls recruited into the sex industry, queer people from the provinces, patients and doctors at a Ukrainian maternity hospital, and reporters like herself.

This is Russia as it is, not as we imagine it. The result is a unique portrait of a country and a young woman who refuses to remain silent.
