Vladimir Karatkevich is the pride and conscience of Belarusian literature. In 2016, his work 'Ears of Corn under Your Sickle' was recognized by readers as the most important book that influenced the development of Belarusians as a nation. The novel describes the formation of the Belarusian nation using the example of the noble family of Zagorski. The events take place in the Mogilev and Grodno regions, in Vilnius, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Warsaw - among peasants and in noble palaces, at student gatherings and in educational institutions.
