The book of Aunt Trofimenko, a literary critic, or critics, as they are called in the literary world, is dedicated to iconic novels, such as depicted the realities of the past and recorded stylistic and luminous changes in the world. Novels that tell us about the everyday problems of Ukrainians from the 19th to the first third of the 21st century.
The author examines the works of Ivan Nechuy-Levytsky, Panas Mirny, Olga Kobilyanska, Valerian Pidmogilny, Ivan Bagryany, Irina Vilde, as well as novels by Yuri Andrukhovich, Serhiy Zhadan, Oksana Zabuzhko, Maria Matios, Oleksandr Irvanets, Ireni Karpi and others. This is not a canon, this is not the place to prepare for the ZNO, but first of all we should try to talk about the genre, about those how ideologies and the matrimonial process influence creativity, and also about those for whom there are still discussions about the “great Ukrainian novel”.
