This book summarizes the results of field research by Canadian geographer and urbanist Leslie Kern, who studies current issues of women's lives in the modern city. The author shows how the structure of the city—from its planning to the norms and customs regulating the communication of its residents—has turned into a space of gender struggle. Describing her own experiences of motherhood, friendship, work, and activism, Leslie Kern proposes applying an intersectional feminist approach to urban planning and believes that this will contribute to the formation of a new generation of urbanism.
